Hartford HealthCare has long had dozens of excellent physicians and care providers in the southeastern Connecticut-Rhode Island area, but those professionals were in offices that scattered around Westerly, Stonington, Mystic, Waterford and elsewhere.

When opportunities arose starting around 2015 to purchase properties along major roadways including Route 2 in Pawcatuck, I-95 in Mystic, and I-95/Route 85 in Waterford, the not-for-profit health system saw a chance to bring together its providers and its expertise into modern, state-of-the-art buildings that would bring a new level of accessibility, convenience and health services to the community.

Beginning with the purchase of the former Maple Breeze amusement park in Pawcatuck, followed by an agreement with the developer of the Perkins Farm property in Mystic, and most recently the acquisition of the former Toys R Us property at Exit 82 off Interstate 95 (Route 85), Hartford HealthCare continues to enhance its presence, and its care coordination, along the shoreline.

Mystic

Hartford HealthCare opened its three-story, glass-front, state-of-the-art primary care and multi-specialty HealthCenter in Mystic in January 2020. Mystic HealthCare HealthCenter, on Perkins Farm Drive, is home to primary care, cardiology and vascular services, neuromuscular services, neurosurgery, pain management, movement disorders, imaging, and rehabilitation therapy. The Chase Family Movement Disorders Center works with patients with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.

Pawcatuck

Hartford HealthCare opened its Pawcatuck HealthCenter in August 2019, at 350 Liberty Street (Route 2). The 27,000-square-foot building was developed with the patient’s comfort and convenience in mind, offering easy access to primary care, pediatric and adolescent primary care, and rehabilitation services for patients in southeastern Connecticut and Western Rhode Island.

The physicians accepting new patients include:

  • Hartmut Doerwaldt, MD, offering Primary Care.
  • Kara Mignosa, PA-C, Family Medicine.
  • Amanda Conti, MD, offers pediatric, adolescent and adult primary care but at press time was not accepting new patients.
