Andrew Maag of Southington knew something wasn’t right with his health. He was unexpectedly losing weight and noticed a pain in his lower rib cage every time he would eat or drink.
A trip to the Emergency Department at The Hospital of Central Connecticut revealed a tumor the size of a grapefruit on his pancreas. He was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. The disease is known for not having a high rate of survival.
Maag was placed in the care of Imran Siddiqui, MD, surgical oncologist with the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute. Dr. Siddiqui was able to successfully remove the tumor, using robotic surgery, and says Maag is now free of pancreatic cancer.
