Dear Colleagues,

August was National Neurosurgery Awareness Month and while I know it may seem trivial when compared to ubiquitous national celebrations, like National Doughnut Day, I want to be serious for a moment and take this opportunity to recognize the work we do every day.

At our Ayer Neuroscience Institute, surgeons save or improve the lives of patients while contributing research and knowledge to advance the field of neuroscience. We are brain and spine surgeons, but we treat the entire nervous system.

Behind every great neurosurgeon is an even better team and nowhere is that more accurate than at our center. Whether we are educating the public, training the next generation of neuroscience professionals or providing the most compassionate and sophisticated care to our patients and their families, our team at the Ayer Neuroscience Institute brings the practice of neurosurgery to a new level.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of those in our neurosurgery divisions for coming to work every day and taking care of our patients.

And even if it’s not quite as exciting as doughnut day, please join me in raising a cup of Joe as we celebrate our accomplishments during Neurosurgery Awareness Month.

Hats off,

Dr. Alberts
