The Mazor X robot, a new, state-of-the-art technology in spine surgery, is now at MidState Medical Center. On Monday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon, stop by the MidState main lobby to see the robot, speak to a Mazor representative and learn about the technology. You also will have an opportunity to name the robot — stop by the table to drop your ideas in the box!

Hartford HealthCare is the only system in the Northeast with the Mazor X robot, which gives surgeons the most advanced resources to enhance patient safety and accuracy in planning and performing spine surgeries.

Dr. Joel Bauman, a neurosurgeon at MidState, performed the first procedure in the Central Region. “On the computer, the surgeon plans and positions the screw images within the spine image. You get a three-dimensional image that you can rotate on the screen to make sure it’s what you want,” he said.
