Charlotte Meucci, RD, is the 2017 Outstanding Dietitian of the Year, according to the Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Charlotte was selected for going above and beyond the call of duty on the Hartford Hospital campus and beyond, building longstanding relationships with students and patients all over the region. Her work often takes her to health fairs, churches and schools after working hours to make important community connections.

“I’m been following some patients for 15 years, which helps me build a rapport so they trust me,”  Meucci said. “Diet is very important and I try to make it easy for them to make healthy choices instead of saying, ‘no, don’t, can’t.’”

The Connecticut Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics serves as the leading advocate of the dietetic profession in Connecticut, serving the public through promotion of optimal nutrition, health, and well-being.

Accomplished dietitians are nominated each year for the award by their peers and selected by a committee that considers qualifications, experience, community involvement and letters of recommendation.

“She is so dedicated to our patients,” said Dr. Konstadina Darsaklis, advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and transplant cardiologist. “This is a true accomplishment.”
