Beginning March 22, Hartford HealthCare patients will have immediate access to previously unavailable information in their electronic medical records. Data maintained in electronic form, including a variety of clinical results and notes, will now be released into your records as soon as they are completed by the healthcare provider.

These changes are part of the 21st Century Cures Act, supporting seamless and secure access, exchange, and use of electronic health information. Allowing patients faster access to their information gives them the opportunity to better manage their health and talk with their provider about their healthcare issues.

The information, made available through your MyChartPLUS account, will include:

  • Notes related to your visit
  • Lab, pathology and radiology results
  • Progress notes
  • Telephone notes
  • And more

There are a few well-defined exceptions to what is shared through the 21st Century Cures Act. If the information could potentially cause significant harm to a patient’s life, endanger someone’s physical safety or privacy, or conflict with other laws, then a provider may decide not to immediately release the information to MyChartPLUS. Additionally, if you and your healthcare provider decide that specific information should not be released before the provider reviews it, or if you want to request that certain information not be released to MyChartPLUS, an exception can be made on a case-by-case basis to ensure your wishes are honored.

If you are not enrolled in MyChartPLUS, you can easily create an account to quickly access your electronic medical records. Visit our website for more information and instructions for creating an account.

Hartford HealthCare is proud to be taking these important steps to ensure full transparency and fulfill our vision of being the most trusted for personalized coordinated care. For more details about the 21st Century Cures Act and what it means for you, please visit our website.
