Daniel Kombert, MD, has been named Associate Vice President of Medical Affairs for Hartford Hospital and Medical Director of the Hartford HealthCare Transfer Center. In this new role, Dr. Kombert will be responsible for the appropriate utilization of inpatient services at Hartford Hospital as well as providing administrative and medical oversight of the Hartford HealthCare Transfer Center within the Hartford HealthCare Care Logistics Center.

Dr. Kombert has been the Regional Director for Hospital Medicine for the Hartford HealthCare Central Region since 2014 and is an assistant professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, he received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Westchester County Medical Center.

Before joining The Hospital of Central Connecticut in 2012, he was vice president for hospitalist services at Stewart Health Care System, serving 10 community hospitals in Eastern Massachusetts, Medical Director of Quality for Cape Cod Healthcare and vice president for medical affairs for Falmouth Hospital.

He will begin his new role Oct. 29.
