Donors to Hartford Hospital, as a non-profit organization, play a vital role in the growth and opportunity on our campus.

These investments are critical as the hospital adapts to today’s demanding healthcare environment where technology, research and patient care are of the utmost importance.

Since 2013, the Campaign for Hartford Hospital has generated more than $62 million in donations and pledges.

These gifts have helped support the construction of the Hartford HealthCare Bone & Joint Institute, the expansion of the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI) and construction of a new home on Jefferson Street for some programs of the Brownstone Ambulatory Care Clinic.

While new state-of-the-art buildings designated to help improve the hospital’s delivery of care are its most public manifestation, the Campaign for Hartford Hospital also includes plans to enhance other services and programs, including:

• Enhancing the Institute of Living’s Suicide Prevention Program

• Establishing a four-bed Cancer Treatment Innovation Unit for Phase 1 Clinical Trials

• Increasing the hospital’s critical care capacity

• Establishing a multidisciplinary clinic for the Tallwood Urology & Kidney Institute

At this year’s Black & Red fundraising gala held in January, two transformational philanthropic investments to support the Hartford HealthCare Neuroscience

Institute were announced, advancing Hartford HealthCare’s place as a leader in the neurosciences.

The Louise and Ramani Ayer gift supports the emerging Neuroscience Institute, to be renamed the Ayer Neuroscience Institute, bringing together the best clinical care, increased focus on translational research and leading edge technology to offer world-class care for all neurological conditions.

The Chase family gift supports the advancement of the Movement Disorders Center. It is to be named the David and Rhoda Chase Family Movement Disorders Center, and include the establishment of a Neurology Fellowship in Movement Disorders.

“We are extremely grateful to all of our generous supporters and advocates,” said Dr. Stuart Markowitz, president of Hartford Hospital. “Their dedication ensures that Hartford Hospital will continue to be the hospital the region can rely on for an exceptional level of care and world-class technology.”
