The Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI) staff trained 12 Navy undersea medical officers May 13 in managing trauma, cardiac and other medical cases.

Navy Personnel Training in CESICESI recently renewed its contract with the U.S. Navy for another three years. The Navy MDs come to train four times a year.

CESI is a 20,000-square-foot training facility and one of the only facilities in the United States to offer a fully comprehensive range of robotic and high-technology training opportunities. CESI’s mission is to promote excellence in clinical care, advance patient safety and improve multidisciplinary team performance through high-fidelity medical simulation.

Participants train in a setting similar to his/her actual work environment to create an atmosphere of realism. Working in this environment lends support to the simulator’s extended capabilities to mimic multiple types of acute crises and patient care scenarios.

CESI trained more than 11,000 medical professionals in fiscal year 2015.
