Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut will sponsor a mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic in collaboration with Hartford HealthCare on Tuesday, May 11, in Bridgeport.

The free clinic for Bridgeport residents will be held at the Cathedral of Faith, 2319 Fairfield Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. About 100 residents will be able to get their first dose of the Moderna vaccine, and will also be scheduled for their second dose on June 8 at the same location.

“Now is the time for all of us to come together and do what we can to support communities across the state to get vaccinated,” said Lou Gianquinto, president, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut. “With the vaccine now broadly available, it’s important to make access easy for people and that’s why we’re joining Hartford HealthCare to bring a clinic directly into a community where we know there’s still a need.”

Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and chief executive officer of Hartford HealthCare, said mobile vaccination clinics are an important component of the health system’s community outreach efforts.

“We are delighted to work with Anthem in this important endeavor,” he said. “Partnerships like this ensure that everyone has access to the COVID vaccine. Every day we are doing more to get out to more communities, including outreach to the underserved and most vulnerable.”

Residents can schedule an appointment online at HartfordHealthCare.org/vaccine or by calling Hartford HealthCare’s dedicated Bridgeport Resident Community Care Center 860.827.7400. Anyone 18 years and older is eligible to receive the vaccine.
