The Hartford HealthCare Ayer Neuroscience Institute announced the appointment of Dr. Elena Bortan, a movement disorders specialist, to its team.
Dr. Bortan comes to Hartford HealthCare from Middlesex Hospital, where she has worked for almost a decade. She earned her medical degree from Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania. She completed a residency in neurology at Tufts Medical Center and a fellowship in movement disorders at the Lahey Clinic.
Dr. Bortan’s areas of clinical interest are movement disorders including Parkinsonism, essential tremor and others; botulinum toxin chemodenervation for dystonia, blepharospasm and spasticity; deep brain stimulation; and general neurology. She is fluent in English and Romanian.
She is board-certified in neurology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology and Movement Disorder Society.
Dr. Bortan is seeing patients at 35 Talcottville Road, Suite 6, Vernon, and in Mystic when the Hartford HealthCare location opens there in 2020. For appointments, call 860.870.6385.
