Hartford HealthCare was a sponsor of the event that helped celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month.  More than 3,000 people attended the event that included breast cancer education, vendors, sample food and live music.

King urged women 40 and over to get their mammograms when they’re due for the test. She said the Pink Party is all about hope for survivors and their families.

“It’s amazing to see all of the survivors here.  They’re so inspirational,” she said.

King said breast cancer care and treatment has come a long way over the past 30 years.

“In breast surgery alone we’ve come so far, from breast conserving surgery to now being able to perform hidden scar surgery.   With hidden scar, women can look in the mirror and not be constantly reminded of the scars from surgery,” King said.
