With the concerns about coronavirus and COVID-19, I want to assure you that Hartford HealthCare is doing everything possible to protect the safety and well-being of the people and the communities we serve, and our team of healthcare providers. Our goal is to be ready and prepared for whatever is ahead and below are the specific measures we’re taking across Hartford HealthCare so we are here when you need us most.

Given the potential impact of this virus, we’ve had to do things we’ve not had to do before. We set up a dedicated team of experts and COVID-19 Command Center who are actively monitoring and working closely with state and national experts focused on this important health issue.

To protect the most vulnerable, and out of an abundance of caution, we are limiting visitor access to our hospitals and other care settings. We are postponing and cancelling community events to limit the potential spread of the virus within our community. These are decisions that we do not make lightly. As always — from our senior living facilities to our hospitals and community partners and across our 400 locations — our colleagues have responded with appropriate urgency and empathy.

Knowing there are many questions about the virus and its potential effects, we set up an around-the-clock hotline where callers may speak with HHC clinical experts for answers to questions. Feel free to reach out to them at (860.972.8100) if you have concerns.

We also provide online resources on our public website, in both English and Spanish. This comprehensive resource is updated regularly and designed with your questions in mind. To receive text alerts from HHC, text COVID19 to 31996 from your mobile device.

Unfortunately, we don’t expect that the COVID-19 crisis will be short-lived.  As the situation evolves you can count on HHC to do the right thing, and we will continue to be leaders in this effort — countering panic through preparation, and uncertainty with safety.

On behalf of every one of my 30,000 colleagues, know that we will provide you with access to the best health care, most accurate information and expert guidance.

I pledge that we will take all measures to ensure your health and safety. Thank you for entrusting Hartford HealthCare with your care.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey Flaks
President and Chief Executive Officer
