Rushford, a comprehensive center for the treatment of addiction and mental health issues in Connecticut, has announced the opening of a new facility for the treatment of adults with addiction issues in Avon in response to the ongoing epidemic in heroin and opioid addiction across Connecticut,

The new location at 35 Tower Lane, set to open Oct. 3, will provide a full range of specialized outpatient treatment services for adults suffering from addiction-related issues. Rushford, which is part of the Hartford HealthCare Behavioral Health Network, was formed 40 years ago in central Connecticut and has evolved into a leading resource for evidence-based care and treatment in addiction medicine.

Patricia Rehmer, MSN, ACHE, president of the Behavioral Health Network, said Rushford is continuing to add locations for addiction treatment as way to address the ongoing addiction crisis in Connecticut and across the country. Connecticut is on pace to see an estimated 832 people die of substance abuse overdoses in 2016 –up from just over 700 in 2015.

“This is an issue that is having a devastating impact on communities across our state, large and small, rich and poor,” Rehmer said. “We are responding as quickly and comprehensively as possible by bringing the highest standards of care to people in all of our communities. This is a disease that is destroying families, but we can make a difference if we give people the care they need.”

The services available at the new location in Avon include:
