Jeff Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare (HHC), is the fourth most powerful figure in the region, according to the latest issue of the Hartford Business Journal.

Under the headline “Power 50,” the cover of the publication refers to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in saying, “Times of crisis require strong leaders. HBJ publishes its first ranking of the region’s most powerful figures.” Flaks ranks behind only Gov. Ned Lamont and his wife Ann, state Senate President Martin Looney and state House Speaker Joseph Aresimowicz, and the greater Hartford congressional delegation in the list.

The magazine lauds Hartford HealthCare’s response to the pandemic as being “front-and-center” and “among the first hospitals in Connecticut to launch drive-up testing.” It also mentions that Lamont tapped Flaks, along with two other healthcare CEOs, to advise him during the crisis.

“As the state’s healthcare sector further concentrates, HHC, with Flaks at the helm, is almost certain to continue to be an acquiring force,” the publication predicts.
