Ever get the feeling that you’re going nowhere fast at your spinning class? Now there’s a chance for indoor cycling enthusiasts to go the extra mile for Connecticut families dealing with cancer by dedicating their next workout to the  2017 Cycle Against Cancer this month at four locations starting this weekend.

The Connecticut Sports Foundation, the event sponsor that works with the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute, is a nonprofit organization in Old Saybrook that helps cancer victims and their families with rent, mortgage, utilities and other basic living expenses. It’s targeting a goal of $1,000 for every  team (or solo rider)  at the event taking place over three days. It begins with a four-hour session March 18 at Iron House Fitness in Old Saybrook and New York Sports Club in West Hartford, followed by March 19 at Zen & Now Yoga Studio in Niantic and March 25 at Up Fitness in Mystic.

Already, the CSF has raised close to $64,000 of its $150,000 goal.

Most families requesting financial assistance through the CSF Grant Recipient Program are referrals by oncology social works Connecticut’s hospitals, cancer treatment centers and hospices. All applicants are screened for program eligibility.
