Backus Hospital will host the 15th annual Safety Camp from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 in the hospital parking lot outside of the Medical Office Building entrance, 326 Washington St., Norwich.

The camp, organized by the Backus Emergency Care & Trauma Center and American Ambulance, gives children and their families an opportunity to learn about safety in a recreational environment. Free bicycle helmets will be available for fitting while supplies last.

Children will be able to tour emergency vehicles and learn how they work. Safety lessons will include water, electricity, fire and the use of 911.

Safe Kids of Windham and New London County will be on site to conduct free car seat checks performed by certified technicians.

Non-perishable items will be collected for the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.
