Kevin Howe was recently awarded Windham Hospital’s Jane M. Desmarais Memorial Scholarship, granted each year to an individual furthering their education in the field of nursing.

The $1,000 scholarship was created to memorialize the professional standards of excellence that Jane M. Desmarais exemplified while practicing as a nurse at Windham.

Kevin began working in food service at Windham 19 years ago. He worked his way up, earning a position in the diet office and as a part-time supervisor. His favorite part of the job was interacting with patients, which made him realize he could make a difference and he decided to pursue a degree in nursing.

“Kevin’s dedication, perseverance and desire to truly help people are some of the core values exemplified by Jane M. Desmarais and the reasons he was chosen to receive the scholarship award in her name,” says Christopher Watkins, RN, MBA, senior director of nursing at Windham.
