Let us count the roses, figuratively, on Valentine’s Day at Mulberry Gardens of  Southington,  an assisted-living community that’s part of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services.

Art and Trudy Main celebrated their 70th anniversary in December (wedding day: Dec. 26, 1947), which means that if Art were a faithful dozen-a-year guy each Valentine’s Day, he has showered Trudy with more than 800 roses. The Mains, who met at a dance during World War II, were among four couples recognized at a Valentine’s Day luncheon for marriages totaling a collective 240 years. (It’s OK to stop counting the roses now.) The couples dined in a private room with Valentine’s-themed tabled linens, flowers and wedding photos.

The husbands, ever the romantics, also presented their wives with a love poem and chocolates.

The other couples: Tim and Nan Krechevsky (married June 21, 1953), Tom and Sue Scanlon (married Aug. 27, 1955) and Buzz and Marge McKennerney (married July 23, 1972). See the gallery:
